CURIOSITIES
Continuing with the tradition started by their elders, the current owners of the Manuel Aragón Winery baptize their wines with names rooted in the city where they were born and where the winery facilities are located.
The Battle of La Barrosa took place on March 5, 1811 within the framework of the War of Independence after the Napoleonic invasion. The allied troops under British command and made up of Spanish, English, Portuguese and Germans faced the French army in what is now called “Torre del Puerco” on the Chiclana beach of the same name.
Colonel William Light, of the British Army who participated in the battle, was enamored of the Cádiz terrain and, when he became governor of Australia, he named one of the areas Barrosa Valley, to remind him of Chiclana.
La Batalla de la Barrosa is a Sauvignon Blanc, from French grapes of the same name. The Sauvignon Blanc grape produces dry white wines, very elegant and balanced, with varietal aromas, very aromatic, with herbaceous nuances. The climate of Chiclana, the soil of our vineyards and the proximity to the sea give this wine exceptional organoleptic characteristics.
